This early 1900s Hubbard home in Wethersfield went through a fantastic transformation. This project included carpentry work, a full color change, and work to both the front porch and the back deck area. The windows were painted black which really helps the gray body color stand out.

A full color change from gray to this beautiful blue! Don't you just love the accent colors on this? What a great project. 

We completed a tremendous amount of carpentry on this home and repaired all of the built-in gutters. After correcting the carpentry and addressing areas of water penetration, we gave this home our full work up; a thorough scrape, wash, coat of elastic bonding primer, caulk and hole filler prep, and two top coats of finish paint!

This project was completed in two phases.

Phase one was to restore the beautiful wrap-around porch. After removing the flooring, we discovered that much of the original framing was rotted. We dug new footings, framed a new floor and installed new Douglas Fir tongue and groove flooring and stair treads. We custom made matching balusters and installed them where necessary. The lattice on the entire front of the porch was redone with custom made new lattice material made to match the old style and design. 

Phase two was to refinish the entire exterior with a full color change paint job. We replaced several clapboards and finished the house with Benjamin Moore exterior paint.

Old Wethersfield Historic House Painting and Porch Restoration

This early 20th century home was brightened up with our three-coat paint system. A thorough prep to remove loose and flaking paint and a good wash got this home to the point where we could apply our bonding primer. We then top coated it with two coats of Benjamin Moore latex paint.

This was an extensive restoration project that included redoing the roof, fixing and restoring the exterior wood clapboards and trim, and refinishing the exterior with new paint application. 

The old cedar roofing was completely removed and rotting in the sublayer was corrected. A cedar breather system was applied to the sublayer and new red oak taper sawn shingles were installed. Copper flashing was installed along with a new copper gutter over the rear entry. 

Several of the clapboards were in need of replacement or repair. We used Spruce clapboards and installed the clapboards with scarf joints and replica clinch nails. The entire house was re-nailed and sealed. New custom moldings were made for several areas of the house, including the front entryway where we refinished much of the front door surround. We installed a new Mahogany threshold and finished the project off with new brownstone slab stairs.

The last phase of the project was the paint restoration. We completed full prep on the house and applied our three-coat paint system to recondition the clapboards.
